About The Big Memory Share

Be part of the world's biggest collection of memories.

We at the Leeds Memory Group are psychologists whose ambition is to record the largest ever database of memories. We would like you to tell us about your very first memory from childhood and/or your most important memory of items of major public news - what is called a 'flashbulb' memory.   We are hoping to gather more than 20,000 samples to help us with our ongoing work into how children develop a capacity for memory, how adults process memory and how memories change as people get older.

We want you to describe a memory that you believe really is your first memory - not one from a family story or photograph. You are likely to have few flashbulb memories, but everyone can recall at least one or two important events, where they were when they heard the news, what they were doing, who they were with, etc. Flashbulb memories are important in helping us to understand better how human memory works.  We want to know about the sorts of events that give rise to the formation of these memories.

Simply take a moment to complete our survey and add your memories to the collection.

Then why not take a look in the archive on the right and see the latest memories visitors have added to the database.
