Survey of Earliest Memories

We are interested in collecting people's very earliest memory – their first memory. We want to find out what it is people can first remember, how vivid or not vivid, how emotional or neutral, such memories are.

On the next page a form is provided for you to record your earliest memory. There is, however, one strict rule: the memory you describe as your first memory really must be a memory. It cannot be a family story, an image from a photograph, or something half remembered that you are not certain actually is a memory. Instead it must a memory that you experience as a memory and which you believe to be your earliest memory.

Once you have described your memory you are then asked to provide a short set of ratings of various aspects of the memory, this should only take a few minutes and will be invaluable in helping understand this important and fascinating set of memories.
